Arthur Abraham stops Pablo Farias in 5
January 14th 2012
Former champion Arthur Abraham knocks off Pablo Farias to capture the WBO European super middleweight title. After a slow start. Abraham let the punches fly as he found a combination of punches throughout the fight to seal the victory in Germany.
There were many questions about Abraham's skill and confidence. Abraham was 1-3 in four matches before this fight against some of the top opponents in the 168 pound weight division. In his last fight against Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament, Arthur was not the athlete most were used to seeing as he lost to Ward.
The fight started with a mediocre first round that saw no dominant performances. As the match went on, Abraham started getting into a nice groove. By the third round, Abraham was making Farias consistently retreat and defend. By the fifth round, King Arthur let out a barrage of punches to secure the victory.
The referee waived off the match as Farias fell for a third and final time.
